Oh, Motherhood. You have quite the sense of humor, don’t you? And I usually credit you for teaching me things I didn’t even know I needed to learn… patience, gratitude, humility. But today, I have to be honest. I am not sure what you were going for when the middlest clung to my shirt as I attempted to lower him to the swim instructor. He apparently just loves me so much that he apparently can’t live without me. And so he kicked and screamed. And thrashed. And, in a moment of desperation, pulled down my shirt as I was leaning forward, attempting to release him from my person. And then… then he yanked down my nursing bra. Exposing the milk jugs {specifically, Ms. Righty} to everyone in the pool. No. I am not joking. About the nip slip. I’m not certain where this life experience will help me down the road but hey, as the young kids say, YOLO, right?
It could have been worse. Here are the positives as I see them. Had it been last Monday’s lesson, the cartons would have been bright purple. There is that. And at least the cartons are in full form right now, and bringing their A Game. There is that. And I’m pretty sure my little peep show basically makes me a celebrity in some form. Those people are always dealing with wardrobe malfunctions. Though, I suppose, not often due to the death grip of a nearly three year old. And the fact that the viewing gallery was behind me. That was a gift. So the parents watching, hopefully were none the wiser about my little Moms Gone Wild moment.
As I replaced my nursing pads and rearranged my shirt, I could only think of you, Motherhood. And just how rewarding you are. But hey… at least the middlest stopped screaming for bits and pieces of the lesson. And didn’t drown. Those were bright spots. The rewards.
I suppose I’ll take this as a lesson in grace and humor. And call it a day.
So, Motherhood, Thanks for the memories. Of my mammaries. You’re a real peach.
