We are embarking on a whole new adventure… the world of blogging! With Adam being a techie nerd, we decided there would be no better way to communicate our journey of pregnancy than to blog it out. As you know if you are reading this, our last name is pronounced “Brame” — thus the name, Baby on the Brehm (get it, like Brain?). If you would rather pronounce it “Bremm”, then please picture that the baby is actually ON the Brehm (the Ashli Brehm, that is). We look forward to writing and letting you in on the excitement and many emotions that come with hopping on this wild ride.
As of today, we are 14 and a half weeks pg! It’s been a rather rocky first trimester as I have battled some hideous morning sickness and Adam has had to be married to me as I battled it. I was convinced at the beginning that because I workout and eat healthy, I wouldn’t be getting sick during this process. Oh no, I was going to be rock solid. FIRST LESSON — I have no control over this baby… and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. There were a couple weeks in which (and I apologize to Baby Brehm now) I determined that our sweet little baby would never treat its mom this way so then, of course, I decided I must have a parasite of some sort. While I know this is crazy talk and that my fantastic little Brehm bundle is not a furry little creature crawling around inside of me wreaking havoc with every twist and turn, it was hard to rationalize when my trips to the bathroom were ever so present.
The weirdest things I have experienced to date are:
-Getting ill from the smell of my deodorant thus changing 4 times in 14 weeks
-Vomiting anytime I brushed my teeth with Crest. (I have found happiness with Tom’s)
-Abhorring the mere idea of chicken breasts.
-A new obsession with cooking and baking while not having an appetite for anything.
-Hitting puberty at 26 and finally having boobs — that hurt — all the time.
To answer any questions off the bat, we are not finding out the sex of the baby (merely to torture all of you “planners” out there), we are not divulging any name choices (again, to punish all of our family and friends because apparently this is just unheard of) and Baby Brehm #1 did happen as a result of a very relaxing, planned trip to Mexico.
Hopefully you will find this blog fun to read and fun to follow the growth of the Brehm bunch. Peace out!
