In the event that little Snowball shows his/her face in the coming week, the Brehm household is bustling as “we” make room for baby. Spending the week on bed rest actually went by fairly quickly and without much tadoo. I had visitors to pass the time (THANK YOU!) and keep me company and all in all, have felt very relaxed in preparation for our little pup. Daddy Brehm, on the other hand, has been busy as can be. As I sit here blogging about the babe, Adam has just completed making breakfast, lunch and dinner, putting together the pack n play, tending to my every whim and is now sorting and folding laundry. Meanwhile, I do my best not to let the couch even think about moving anywhere. So far my bottom has been very on top of it.
At our Thursday appointment, I begged for time off for good behavior and was allowed to leave the house to sit at the salon on Saturday. Like a beauty queen who’s made a secret trip to an all-you-can-eat buffet, I felt a bit guilty about the visit for vanity but I got over that as my roots disappeared right before my very eyes. My appointment took two hours and I have to admit, I was totally tuckered following mommy’s day out… it was surely the first day I realized why house arrest was prescribed for this momma-to be.
Our parents are proving their affinity for their newest grandbaby bundle. Each having taken a weekend to assist Adam, the house is starting to look ready to bring home baby. I “supervised” yesterday as the curtains were hung, the last piece of furniture found its frame and other touches were completed for our tot’s territory. Not to say it’s the very best nursery that has ever graced the planet but I am completely in love with the finished product. I am sure that Snowball will soon make it his/her own space as the room becomes accented with dirty diapers and sleepless nights … and I’m sure we’ll love every minute of it.

Every time I tell Adam how much I appreciate all that he’s doing, he replies “Thank you for gestating our baby”. I may be cookin’ our little bun but it seems easy compared to the many tasks everyone else is taking on…
