When my sister and I were children, we absolutely delighted in reading the comics each Sunday morning. We would split up the pages so each of us could read at the same time although each of us were in pretty good agreement about which strips were the best. We both always read Peanuts as it was the first on the front page, looked forward to seeing what LuAnn was up to that week and always skipped the then-over-my-head Non Sequitor. As a grown-up, I never pass up the opportunity to grab the funnies when at my parent’s place to check out what all of my old friends are up to and the one strip that remains the most sentimental to me has got to be Bil Keane’s Family Circus {What will little Billy get into this week?}. One of my all time favorite comic collections of Keane’s is titled “It’s apparent you’re a parent” and as I embark on parenthood, I find myself mentally collecting my own parent-isms … times at which I think “crap. it’s apparent I’m a parent.” .
