When you have your once-a-year carpet cleaning on Wednesday…
Then this will surely happen on Thursday…
Our Thursday started out somewhat standard…
aside from this…
As I shared with Adam, I can count on {less than} one hand the amount of times Barrett has conked out without crib. He has always been quite persnickety when it comes to his sleep. So, when the day starts out with a snoozing session in the big bed, I suppose we should do more scratching of our heads. But silly us, because he’d been in good spirits by the end of Wednesday and even wanted dinner, we just thought it was because he’s been adjusting to sleep sans sucker. {And, the seasoned moms laugh}
After an extra hour of sleep, B wanted a bite so I obliged with breakfast.
And just 15 minutes later, his Carnation was all over the carpet. The freshly cleaned carpet.
So you tell me… what do you do when your two year old vomits on the carpet? And WHY is this sort of circumstance omitted from the manual?
Well… I can tell you what I did…I followed my gut reaction. I held out my hands and caught the first round of puke in my paws. Then, like a mad woman, I ran into the kitchen, grabbed a dish towel, laid it on the floor and moved B onto it {yes. I was a little concerned about my carpet. I can’t lie.}. I then held our little snuggle buggle as he continued to clear out his belly.
Oh what a week/month/season this has been.
But I have to say … I am somewhat thankful for it all. It’s made me thankful that Barrett’s illnesses all come with an expiration date. It’s made me appreciate the extra snuggles that our otherwise independent little sweetie may not be so willing to share. It’s made me thankful that Barrett somehow continues to be so gosh darn tender-hearted and adorable even with round after round of ear infections, flu, cold, fever and just general crap. And, of course, it’s made me more thankful than ever for sunshiney days and the promise of spring.
I’m not sure where the carpet cleaning/barf debacle fits into my thanks, but I’m working on finding that silver lining.
I suppose it made me thankful for Resolve.
