Six weeks and one day after Harrison entered the world, Dr. Minderman has declared that Harrison is ready to be home.
Weight checks will abound but at 4 lbs 15oz, no alarms for the last 5 sleeps, consistently feeding, a completed hearing screen…car seat test…circ, maintaining temperature, and beautiful as can be, our boy will join the rest of the Brehm brood. We have much to be thankful for. Doctors, nurses, Aides and Staff at Methodist Women’s Hospital {from L&D, NICU and beyond}, all the Living Gracers who have been providing meals, everyone else who has been helping out in all sorts of capacities since I went on bed rest, our families and ever-supportive friends, rock star nanny, and of course, all of you who check into BOTB for following, praying, and cheering for Harrison’s growth and health. {and I must mention, one more time…for good measure, that Adam has been the glue that has kept it all together on the home front… Thank the lord.}
I shed tears as we got our littlest Brehm bundle dressed in his going home attire. So many emotions mixed together over these last few months came pouring out as I hugged the nurses goodbye. From a miscarriage almost a year ago to bringing our third son home today, it’s been, at times, a wild ride.
The bigger bros are ecstatic to have the littlest home. We are armed with sanitization stations. Adam and I are prepped {as much as can be} for the decline of sleep, once again. And I am prepped {as much as one can be} for a few weeks of feeding, pumping and some supplemental bottling. We are beyond grateful to have had such exemplary doctors and nurses to help our own little miracle start growing into himself. And while we still have work to do, we are thankful that they gave him the proper opening to his story. Now… onto another chapter, yet again. Bye bye blue bracelets! Let the wild rumpus start!
