A few weeks ago, the hubs and I were chatting and we made an executive decision. Each week, we would make one night Cereal Night. And seriously… it is the best night ever.
It’s not rocket science. Or ground breaking. We all get our bowls, pick out our cereals {I, for one, like to mix as many together as possible}, pour our milk, and sit down together and eat, like normal. But without the meal prep. Without any grumblings about the green thing on the plate or the fact that someone wanted a quesadilla instead of a taco. And without much clean up following our festivities. It’s pretty blissful. Though not quite the land of milk and honey, it has become quickly evident that the land of milk and cereal is pretty heavenly as well. And I even think that having it in the mix makes our other meals run more smoothly as well.
As we feasted on carbs and dairy the other night, the oldest proclaimed with a giant smile slapped on his face, “I love cereal night! It’s the best night!” and the middlest strongly agreed, without one bit of dissent between them. Because Cereal Night also holds magical powers that make everyone at the table feel like they are riding unicorns and getting butterfly kisses from fairies. And as I scooped up the perfect mix of Frosted Mini Wheats, Cinnamon Sweeties, Honey Nut O’s, and Maple Granola, I couldn’t do anything but agree with them.
If I never make another executive decision in my life, I’m content with Cereal Night being my legacy. Because really, who doesn’t love cereal?
