Help a Sister out {of a YouTube Rut}

Are your kiddos into YouTube? We don’t do a whole lot o Tubin’ but the boys love to watch a video here or there and in fact, the middlest LOVES to request a video pre-bedtime each night… but we are stuck. In a terrible rut. And if I hear any version of the Gummi Bear song again, what is left of my brain {as portions of it have most definitely seeped into my placenta with each birth and then been delivered and since I didn’t eat my placenta, I’ve never recouped the lost goods} will begin morphing into a gelatinous, gummy substance and I will no longer be able to remember important things like my childhood address or what I wore on my first dates with ex-boyfriends. So, I must stop the insanity.

Today, I give you our top 10 videos we are viewing on YouTube, complete with disclaimers, and I want YOU to give me your suggestions back. The only criteria are they must be suitable for small ears {and no, I do not mean small-eared people. I mean children} and I would prefer they be shorter than 5 minutes. K? K.

1. Red Balloon, Home Soundtrack — So we went to the movie, HOME… super cute FWIW… BUT… we have been listening to this song all the live long day ever since. Now, I enjoy a little techno rave before nap time just as much as the next parent but this song needs to chillax just a nibble and let me catch my hand-washing techno dancing breath {and if you know anything about Techno dancing, you’ll know that the hand-washing is in reference to the way one does the hand moves. And a big shoutout to my friend D for her discovery of that fact}. Anyhoozie… so this and then two others from the movie are on replay around our house. Blerg.

 

3. Jeremy Camp, He Knows – Little J Bird has a wee obsesh with Mr. Camp’s He Knows. He first prefered to watch the lyric version of the video {of note, he cannot read} and now prefers this one. I have attempted suggesting other Camp finds and he wants nothing to do with them. I liked the song… the first 243 times I heard it. It’s starting to wear on me a bit. And it’s as if he knows…

 

4. Kelly Clarkson, Heartbeat Song — Most of Jonah’s YouTube requests go like this… “I want a song from Raidyo Dinny!” OR “I want a song from Kids Pwace Wive!” As such, we get some interesting requests in the mix including this song from Kelly. 

 

5. The Duck Song — I went ahead and for your viewing pleasure, included all three of these gems in one vid. And if you haven’t heard them, they are actually pretty hilar. But the humans in them get ducked over every single time. And now that I know that, there is less excitement in watching them.

 

6. Princess, Big Block Sing Song — There are a TON of Big Block Sing Song options. And they are all honestly pretty cute. And entertaining. And applicable to life. But we’ve had this one on repeat as of late. And while I’m all about girl power, the song needs to take a little breather. This one originally came from “Kids Pwace Wive”.

 

7. Beats, Big Block Sing Song – Same as 6. But this one will be stuck in your head alllll day. And I dare you not to dance in your cubical.

 

8. Don’t Fill Up on Chips — This is one of the most annoying songs on the planet. The boys discovered it listening to Kids Place Live. It is awful. And you will not be able to get the whiny voices out of your head. You’re welcome.

 

9. Making Today a Perfect Day — Just when I thought we’d escaped and finally let it go, Frozen rears it’s head, once again. And this song… it’s just as catchy as all the others dammit. So ya. 

 

10. Gummy Bear Choco Choco Choco – What started with the Gummy Bear song, led to discoveries of OTHER gummy bear “hits”. You will hate your life after you listen to this. But your kids will love it. AAAAAAAAGH! I want to scrape my eyeballs out with a spoon.

 

Okay… so help a sister out here, friends. Don’t hold back the good stuff. I need some new vids in our rotation. Or YouTube might accidentally be out of order. Every day.
