Today. It’s a good day. Why? Because if you are reading this, it means that you, too, like me, are alive.
Some days, that’s a hard thing to remember. It’s hard to remember that because you have stress or health concerns or marriage issues or money problems or work problems or your kids are being difficult or you stubbed your toe last night on a step stool while walking through your kitchen OR… Most of all, life has just felt hard lately.
But.
Big but.
On the days you can remember it. On the days you can feel it. On the days you know it when you get out of bed in the morning… Tell yourself these words:
Its a GREAT day to be alive.
Today. Today I woke up and told myself:
It’s a great day to be alive.
Because I really really felt life yesterday. I went to church with friends. {shameless plug… My church is the bomb}.
I folded laundry. I ATE! I spent the evening surrounded by love and laughter. And… I even walked on the treadmill… For the first time since diagnosis, I exercised.
And it felt so good to be alive. Like, really feel aliveness. Feel like me.
Some days, you don’t feel like you’re that alive. Even though you’re living. I get that. I have those days right now. I do. And you have seen me on them. You’re hearing me talk about them and I know there will be more to come. Because, well, cancer… And well, because ups and downs, that’s life. But on the days you do feel alive, like really ALIVE… Write it down. Celebrate it. Let yourself remember how it makes you feel. Tell yourself that these days happen… Even through the storm… Even after the storm.
So, it’s a great day to be alive, friends. There’s your Monday reminder. Do with it what you will. And if you don’t feel that way this morning, know that you will again. Because sometimes the best way to forget about “life” is to force yourself to really live. And if you are feeling that way…And if you want… On my Baby on the Brehm Facebook page, tell me why you’re loving living today. Or post a picture of you doing something that feels ALIVE. And if you can, let life feel you today.
