Oh, fall. A million reasons to love you, my dear friend. The PSL. The scarves. The way your crispy air should help during my newly arrived hot flashes. I love you through and through, Miss Fall. With your leaves. Your luscious scents. And ovvvvv course, your new TV premieres.
The other night, the hubs and I caught up on the new NBC show, This is us. My initial verdict: YES. YES. AND MORE YES.
I’ve been missing Parenthood since it said farewell. And there are so many dark shows on where people be gettin’ killed and screaming “eff this and eff that” and I just need a good feels family drama, ya know? And after the first episode, I am totally vibin’ on this.
Without spoiling too much of the plot or first episode, I will give you 5 things I am already loving about this show:
- Milo – okay, so you know my Gilmore Girls obsesh? Jess, Rory’s one-time boyfriend, is on This is Us. Bingo.
- Mandy – Oh, Mandy Moore. If you all are unaware, Mandy and I used to be besties. She didn’t know it, but we were. So seeing her back here AND as Milo’s wife, well, HELLO perfection.
- Major Dad – Um, just like I loved seeing “Coach” every week on Parenthood, I don’t think I’ll tire of seeing “Major Dad” if he’s on any further episodes.
- Sourest lemon and turning it into lemonade – Major dad said something like this in the first episode and it was so perfect. So perfect. Great writing already.
- Soundtrack – if you were into P-hood’s music, I think you’ll feel like your heart gets all warm and fuzzy with the soundtrack of This is Us. So far, so good.
I am guessing this show will become a must-watch for me. And I have very few of those. But anything that results in Funkytown is something the hubs will also watch, because “Funkytown” {look up the Parenthood reference if you are confused by Funkytown}.
Also, the plot is not totally straight forward. I loved the end of the first episode when they revealed the premise. So good. And something fresh.
What can I say, I’m a sucker for a “Thirty-something” drama. And Hulu helps me keep up on my faves.
Did you catch the new show? Or are you dying for another premiere?
