It was the first year the Oldest wanted to be something that a) wasn’t “cute” and b) was almost unable to attend the trick or treating due to his attitude.
So, no pic of that one. But plenty of fun and sweetness still occurred. Because we’re at pretty good stages with the ages of the kiddos. The Littlest was a “woof” and picked out his outfit about a month and half ago by telling me that he wanted to be a “woof.” Then, we looked up photos and sure enough, he wanted to be a puppy. So we rolled with that.
The Middlest wanted to be Animal from the Muppets until he saw the hubs going through the costume tub. Then, he decided his outfit from a year ago was The way to go. And he began wearing Olaf every minute since last Thursday.
We are with our friends beforehand. The kids all got along swimmingly. And they ran through the neighborhood happy as could be. The weather was ideal. The brews were cold. The company was comfortable.
And the evening was a great rebound after spending most of the evening in last year.
This was a good day. A very Happy Halloween. I wore a little getup for awhile.
But mostly, I just dressed up as a really lucky mama.
And I know the years will change us and this. I know the kids will want to go alone. Or go as things I don’t even get. So for this year, I’m just enjoying the moment. The present. The gift.
Happy Halloween indeed.
