Last Thanksgiving, I spent the day eating with family. I ate two meals, I laughed, I embraced my family, I sent text messages to my friends. And then, on Black Friday, I went to chemo. My third chemo treatment. I took a peppermint pie of some sort from Village Inn. My sister, my mom, and others came to sit with me. It wasn’t a sad holiday even though I was going through sad things… because of Goodness.
Just two months earlier, I’d been diagnosed with breast cancer. Just a month prior, I’d cut my hair into a pixie. And then, two weeks later, I shaved my head. Looking back, it’s hard to imagine that was me living it. But somehow, so much of it was a joyful time… because of you. Because of goodness. Because I know the very best people. I surely do.
So after receiving gifts upon gifts, thoughts upon thoughts, cards upon cards… I decided to share the free goodness and asked friends to help me out. And thus, was born, the first annual Baby on the Brehm Goodness Giftaway. And it made me so so so happy. To spread goodness — no strings attached goodness. Happy cheer for this time of year.
