Do you ever meet someone and you’re immediately like, “yeah… we must have already known one another for at least 1200 years.” That’s how I felt when I met, Kelsey, the beautiful heart and hands behind the scenes of Madison+Barrett. {That’s kinda how I tend to feel as I talk to all the gifters… because these are AWESOME people. Like so so good.}
I met Kelsey after several peeps told me I had to check out her page. And then, I just decided to contact her… yes… I am crazy cakes. And she said, “yep! Come over! Meet me!” Okay… more like I said, “can I come to you?!” Ha! So anyway… Kelsey started making her own baubles, bangles, and bling just a little over a year ago. She has a full-time career, a husband, and two kiddos (and the namesakes behind her jewelry biz) Madison and Barrett AND she and her family create her inventory for her side biz. And her inventory is AHMAZING. Not only does she sell via Facebook but also, this talented mama’s designs can be purchased at Scheels in Lincoln, the Fort stores, and other boutiques.
First of all… she rocks at merchandising…
And second… she just gets what girls like.
I reached out to Kelsey after several people (my friend, Betsy, first;) mentioned her to me. And then I put all the pieces together. Kelsey and her family live in Wilber {yes… where I grew up and my parents live} and her husby is a Deputy. This is essential to the story behind her jewelry because one of the key elements to her pieces is a shell casing. Like, part of a bullet!
She told me she wanted to create jewelry that was natural products — wood, leather, and metal — and she wanted to make something that would last. And I think she totally nails that objective with every single piece she creates.
I could have bought one of everything… from the bracelets to the necklaces, I loved it all. And… I might have a little crush on Kelsey. She has the most inviting spirit and this little twinkle in her eye that just makes ya like her immediately. And honestly, it made me want everything she had… ha! I mean, not creepy at all, right?!
