It’s the most wonderful time of the year, right? I mean, unless you are a third-born kid with a birthday in the Month of Jesus. Then, I think, you can feel a little bit slighted. Like, especially when your parents don’t even give you a first birthday party but instead, they give you a dairy-free cupcake that is a day old and crusty and then you try to grab the candle on it and start screaming because it was lit.
Not that any of that would ever be a part of my world. But like, if it was, that would suck for the birthday kid.
So last year, I decided that we would make a dream come alive. When the Oldest, Mr. B, was born, I thought, Some year, we’re gonna rent a limo with our friends and go around and look at lights. Because while looking at lights is fun, what is more fun is watching kids look at lights. So. Stinkin’. Magical. Right?
So… last year, while I was in the midst of chemo, we all boarded a trolley and took to the town for a couple hours to see lights. And it was one of the highLIGHTs of my year {see what I did there? Also, I just had to take a break to yell at the Birthday month boy because he hauled off and whacked his brother. Such a gem.}
…
And last night, we did our 2nd annual voyage.
Here are the deets {and per the uzh, my very professional blogger photos}:
About a week ago, I called and booked the Trolley. In O town, there are lots of options. After calling around last year, I landed on Emerald Limousine. We book a 2 hour tour. For a week night. Because weekends are bananas in December. {Also, while there is definitely a cost to the Trolley rental, if you know what it is to host a birthday party anywhere in O town for 35 people to attend, you know… it’s sort of the cost of doing biz.}
I then, sent a text-vite {+Red Stamp} to our Framily to attend. They all love how last minute I am, I am sure.
I ordered a chick-fil-a chicken bites platter+fries and bought apple slices day-of {last year we ordered pizza}. And we ordered mini cupcakes {from our fave local Cupcakery, Cupcake Island}.
Also on board, hot cocoa, water, egg nog {and adulting additions for the drinks}.
…
And overall, I think it was a success {notes for next year: more food, more beverage…}!
The Littlest adored it. In fact, when I got him out of his crib this morn, he said, “Bus? Moor?”
…
But my fave part is getting to get together with our closest friends, get their kiddos all hopped up on sugar, and celebrate the season of magic.
…
Oh, and this year, there was a problem with the trolley so they upgraded us for free to a big pimpin’ bus. Because we’re so fancy, everybody knows {bwahahahahhahahahahah!}. And, the best part… most tours happen to run into Mr. Santa out and about.
So that is just icing on the mini cupcakes.
…
Happy third birthday party to our third born. We love you, Mr Monster.
What do you do for your December birthday kiddos? How do you fit a party into the most wonderful time of the year?!
