November 17. Seven years ago, I had no idea that the day would have such significance. But now, each year, it is a reminder of our three little miracles. Because today is World Prematurity Day. A day intended to call attention to the fact that, worldwide, 15 million babies are born premature {according to the March of Dimes}. Prematurity can often lead to lifelong health issues and in over a million births, death.
We are the proud parents of three thriving preemies. Because we had impeccable healthcare and medical staff. Because we knew we were high risk. And because we were very lucky. But not everyone has our luck. And so the March of Dimes works to raise funds for research and preventative measures against premature births. And we are thankful they do. Because we have been the recipients of their research and the advancements it has provided. We have had the best case scenario, three times over.
So, today, we are lucky to celebrate our three preemies and to be thankful and to feel tripley blessed.
