Oh, summer hours. I love them… don’t you? The hubs brought the above beverage home last evening after running an errand, swearing up and down that he found it in the beer section but really, I’m here to tell you, it tasted like I was drinking Simply Ice from HyVee. And I’m not complainin’ about that. Because it was a refreshing little treat to top off a rather busy weekend.
In fact, it topped off a rather busy week. A week of house projects. A week of having all of our normalcy thrown out the window as we had our {three babies over spit-up-laden} carpet torn out and replaced with perfect dance floor material. And the exterior of our house had a nice spruce up as well with fresh paint all around.
We’ve been in our house for 8+ years. Eight years… which means we’ve been just the two of us… just the three of us… just the four of us… and beyond. I can remember the first time we saw the house. We had looked at several and when we walked in, I knew it was exactly where I wanted to live. The place that would be our first house as the Brehms. We didn’t know when we walked in that we’d have three boys running a race track through the dining room — through the kitchen — through the great room. We didn’t know that we’d wear our own track walking screaming babies around for hours and hours on end. We didn’t know the life that we’d make within the walls of the place we would call ours.
In fact, we hadn’t planned to be in this house for 8+ years. We originally thought we’d stay for 5. And then I stayed home. We had three babes. And here we were, in this place that is my memory jar for every bit of life we’ve squeezed into these years.
We love our house. It’s open. It’s a one and half story. And it suits us.
But today, I’ve got news. Baby on The Brehm Headquarters is going to have an address change… pretty darn soon. We’re moving… not cities… just houses. In fact, barely neighborhoods. But moving, just the same. In a few short weeks, in fact. To a place with just a wee bit more room for us as the boys grow.
And I, as you can imagine am completely calm, cool and collected about the whoooooole process. I mean, clearly I handle change so incredibly well, right?
We are set to put our house on the market this week. So things are a bit crazy around these parts. But a good crazy, I think.
I will have more on the process over the next few weeks fo sho {including what it’s been like looking for houses with three boys under 6 — thank God our agent is our friend…} … but for today, I just wanted to share the news. So there you have it.
Here’s hoping someone else wants to move in to our casa, because regardless, we’re packing up, moving out, and putting down new roots.
