After yet another sabbatical from my blogging, I must return today to at least make mention of Barrett’s nine month milestone. Ahhh, nine months is a beautiful time … and it is true what they say, each month seems to be “better” than the one that came before. Although there are moments that I forget this fact, Barrett is the best babe. At least the best babe we’ve ever had. He’s smiley, sweet and cute to boot and we are so smitten with our son.
Though it is a popular thought — nine months in, nine months out — Barrett’s “adjusted age” puts him at eight great months which I would say is about right. This is not to say that Barrett’s first months on planet Brehm were not special but it certainly took a bit to get the kinks worked out. It is very hard to believe that this is the first month that double B will have been out of my body longer than he lived in my belly and even harder to fathom that we are just three months out from the one year mark. I am the mother of a nine month old… crazy stuff.
I have other posts on queue but what eight and nine months has shown me is that my time to write is becoming less and less as Barrett’s body moves more and more. Barrett is a man on the move these days and like other kiddos his age likes to stand more than sit. Though he is still a breastfed babe, he has little patience for taking time to eat and so his sessions have been more snack-like than sustenance filled these days. We’ve added in more “table foods” as this is the first time that his dear Dr. is comfortable with his diet consisting of more food than mama’s milk. Yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese have been welcome additions… especially to help combat the orangish hue that he was donning on his nose {not just an old wives tale my friends}. He loves anything he can pick up with the pincer grasp he’s perfecting and his bottomless-pit-belly is looking mighty full these days.
B has begun following me from room to room, continues to explore anything that isn’t a toy and has an overall happy disposition. His likes and dislikes are evolving with each month as well… he likes to be bounced, he enjoys being outside, he likes to be read to, and he enjoys big groups of people… he doesn’t so much enjoy peas, riding in the car and having his face wiped off {Truth be told, I don’t really like peas or having my face wiped off so I suppose I don’t blame him too much}.
As I said to a fellow MOPS mom today, I feel like I actually might have the hang of this {and all of you veteran moms laugh:)} and being Barrett’s mom feels more like a lifestyle and less like a job now than it did at 2 and 3 months. Oh nine, you’re so fine.
