Hey hey! New year, new blog feature. I gotta keep it fresh around here, you know? I can’t just blah blah motherhood… blah blah cancer… and expect you to keep comin’ around. So, a few new things in the hopper for 2016.
Today’s unveiling isssssssss… My Spaces.
Every other week or so-ish, I will share a space from the Baby on the Brehm headquarters because while you see little bits and pieces in my vids and pics, I thought you and I could get a little more personal this year. You are helping me kick cancer’s ass, after all. You deserve to feel at home here on BOTB.
Part of my pack will be back to the grind today. Break is over. Which means less Legos everywhere I walk. So, in deciding which room to share with you first, it was an easy choice… the Lego Room aka to peepsies who don’t have 3 boys under 6, “the Front Room”.
We had revamped our Front Room in our old house about 6 months prior to putting our house on the market and as luck would have it, we were able to easily transfer that room to the Front Room in our new-to-us casa with just a few more touches here and there. One Lego Room simply became another.
If you want to see the room in the old house, click here.
And here is a little Cribs action of our multi-functional family space…
We saved up our cash for this Pottery Barn Kids Cameron Wall System and I’ve never regretted one measily cent. It’s a great way to contain all the kid stuff and yet sort of have a normal looking space. If I could marry a piece of furniture, this would be it. |
The big wall mirror was a hand-me-down from a friend who no longer wanted it. I snatched that baby up faster than a bride-to-be at one of those discount dress days. |
My friend, Jenny, gifted me this right after my diagnosis. I love the reminder each day. For myself and for my men. |
In the Land of Nod yellow felt bins, we keep items like games/cards/dominoes, and in the others, Keva Planks, Magformers, and gears. I love the pop of color and the felt is cool. Like cool beans. Because beans are super cool. |
I love this table on huge castors that we purchased from Nebraska Furniture Mart last year. It’s distressed, which, IMO is the only way to go with three boys slamming Legos and cars and their bodies all over everything. And, it’s so low to the ground that they can sit and draw at it. I also think it looks cool. As in beans again. The basket was a HobLob grab. Because I think you’re supposed to have big baskets with balls and stuff in them {I have no idea why or what purpose it serves. Or even if it looks good. But I roll with it, every once and awhile.} |
I adore the photo pillow from Tiny Prints. The one on the opposite chair was also a Tiny Prints find. And the black chairs, they were also a great purchase from Nebraska Furniture Mart about 8 years ago. And they honestly look nearly new. And again, with three little boys who were all incessant spitters and yackers, that’s pretty much as incredible as Kim Kardashian still being married to Kanye. Hot diggity dog. |
So, there you have it, friends. The first of My Spaces. And I know, the room is not spotless, or perfectly decorated but he reality is, kids live in my house. THREE LITTLE BOYS. I can’t hide that. And I am home with them almost all the time so they are gonna play… get messy… and get creative. So, we compromise and make spaces friendly for them, and for us. And I’d take a happy home over a pristine one any day. Okay. Maybe pristine would be okay like one day a month. But otherwise, the messings are blessings… or something witty like that.
*PS… per the uzh, I did not receive any payment for my opinions on the retailers in the blog. Just stuff I love. For real.
