My Spaces: A Place to Hang

Oh hey, friends… Happy Monday!! I’m comin’ atcha with another Brehm space in our home space.

Today, I welcome you to my basement. Our old house didn’t have a finished basement and like I said when I showed you the basement bar, I was totally cool with that. Three boys + unfinished basement = winter glory. When kids can ride their bikes or bounce in the bounce house inside the house, it’s a win/win for this mama.

But, when we were looking at houses and found our current home, the finished basement was pretty boss.

Let’s have a look around, okay? Okay.

Here’s the tv area… I love love love this fireplace wall. The stone and the wood mantle are easily two of my most favoritist elements of the house. I got the clock on super deal at PB Kids for 30 bucks. Holla!

The leather sofa is a Natuzzi and we bought it from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I never ever ever was going to purchase anything with recliners. Welp. Never say never, friends. We bought it right after I was diagnosed and I figured I’d pretty much have to have recliners when I was laid up after chemo and GUESS WHAT?! I love having a couple. And, this couch was purchased in about 4 seconds after we’d looked for two months. I dropped all the research and said, “Adam Brehm. Let’s just get this one.” Decision. Made. And my friend, who also happens to be a stellar interior designer, Brianne, {who also graduated high school with Adam} who works at D3 interiors here in Omaha, picked out the fabric and size of the ottoman, ordered it up and it was brought down to our basement by two dudes about 8 weeks after we put in the order.

The tv and sofa are perfect for family movie nights.

I adore this print that I custom-ordered from Jillian at the Anastasia Co. I told here what I wanted it to say because Adam and I loooove good biscuits and gravy {which, HONESTLY, his mama makes the best} and so saying we love each other more than that is saying quite a lot.

A view of the back bar… this part is something I found odd when we toured the house, given the other bar, but I do really like having two spaces for food when we are entertaining. And, on this bar we have a microwave and a wine fridge. The wine fridge has come in excessively handy since cancer entered our lives. Also, I love the extra storage space with the cupboards.

This area is off the bar and in my pure authentic style, I didn’t do any special cleaning or staging for this post {or any of the posts, clearly}. The collage wall was courtesy of my darling and very talented interior designer friend, Linsey {I KNOW… I have 2 friends who are designers. Bomb. diggity.}. Linsey works for the Interior Design Firm, also here in O town. I should have straightened the pics out… but I just. Well. I didn’t. I love this space for the boys. Toys, train table. And plenty of space to run around in the whole basement.

So, that’s pretty much the whole hang out space. And it turns out, finished basements = not so bad. In fact, pretty great. I still need to do some additional decor and of course, the space will morph a bit as the kids grow. Also, I can see getting a table of some sort behind the sofa. And who knows what else this space will bring?! Only time will tell.
